From September 17 – 21, four staff members from AdSTM and Brookhaven National Lab successfully conducted a workshop for the staff of China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center (NSC) of the China National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) on a number of computer codes, including TRACE, PARCS, SCALE (primarily TRITON, NEWT), and SNAP. During the week of September 3rd through 7th, 2012, the International Regulatory Development Partnership (IRDP) provided support to the Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies of Africa (FNRBA) by delivering three training courses at the Fourth meeting of the FNRBA Thematic Working Group on Regulatory Infrastructure for Nuclear Power Plants in Swakopmund, Namibia. During the week of August 6-10, Mel Fields of AdSTM participated in an IAEA consultancy meeting at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The objective of the meeting was to review the draft training materials developed by the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) for two IAEA-sponsored workshops for countries embarking on nuclear power programs. During the week of May 7-11, Dr. Charles Miller participated in a workshop for the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC). IFNEC provides a forum for cooperation among participating countries to explore mutually beneficial approaches to ensure the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, with participation from over 60 countries.
