From March 4-8, 2012, Morton Fleishman of AdSTM provided mentoring support to the staff of the Nuclear Safety and Security Division (NSSD) of the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission (JNRC) in its review and evaluation of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) for the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR). The NSSD staff is performing the evaluation of the PSAR in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS). From March 5-9, 2012, Scott Newberry and Richard Emch of AdSTM conducted training for ten participants from nations that are members of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA): Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, and Tunisia. The training included a Nuclear Executive Workshop and a discussion of the events at Fukushima. During the week of February 20-24, 2012, representatives of AdSTM and Ms. Danielle Emche of NRC Office of International Programs traveled to Vilnius, Lithuania to conduct a Construction Permit Workshop for Lithuania’s State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI). Between February 13 and 17, 2012, the IRDP conducted a Nuclear Executive Workshop at PNRI in the Philippines. AdSTM also briefed PNRI on the status of small modular reactor (SMR) reviews and issues in the United States. From February 13 - 17, 2012 the IRDP conducted the Nuclear Fundamentals course in Nairobi, Kenya. The workshop included two days of Fundamentals of Reactor Regulations (FORR) and two and a half days of Fundamentals of Reactor Safety (FORS). Charlie Miller and Scott Newberry of AdSTM visited BAPETEN, the regulatory authority in Indonesia on January 18 and 19. BAPETEN is preparing to receive their first site application for a nuclear power plant. AdSTM is assisting them with their planning efforts, including human resource development, and conduct of training/workshops on various licensing activities. During this meeting all of the planned activiites for 2012 were discussed. Charlie Miller also made a presentatin on Fukushima lessons learned and resonded to questions from BAPETEN staff and management.
Charlie Miller and Scott Newberry of AdSTM met with the leadership and staff of OAP in Thailand on January 16 and 17. The primary purpose of the meeting was to continue support to OAP on their Human Resources Development Plan. This plan is being used by OAP to identify all of the necessary resources needed to review their first application to license a nuclear power plant in Thailand.

From December 5-9, 2011 Mel Fields and Scott Newberry of AdSTM conducted one week of training for the staff of of the Center for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science in Singapore. Personnel from other Singapore government agencies involved in emergency planning, civil defense, environmental monitoring and the military were also in attendance. The training included a Nuclear Executive Workshop, Fundamentals of Reactor Safety, and a discussion on the events at Fukushima. Singapore is conducting a feasibility study on energy options including nuclear power.
