TRACE Workshop for China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center Beijing, China

October 9th, 2012 —

From September 17 – 21, four staff members from AdSTM and Brookhaven National Lab successfully conducted a workshop for the staff of China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center (NSC) of the China National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) on a number of computer codes, including TRACE, PARCS, SCALE (primarily TRITON, NEWT), and SNAP. This workshop was funded by U.S. NRC Office of International Programs (OIP).

The workshop covered basics of these codes and modeling guidelines which are oriented to new users. It involved both formal lectures and hands-on exercises. In addition, individual consulting, which involved in-depth discussion, was provided to advanced code users. At the end of the workshop, our team had a management meeting with our NSC counterparts and discussed plans for follow-up activities and other potential technical areas for future cooperation.
