Jack Ramsey is currently a Senior Level Advisor, Office of International Programs, at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). His principal responsibilities involve oversight of NRC’s global international regulatory outreach and assistance efforts. This includes such areas as existing and new nuclear power reactors, research reactors, uranium recovery facilities and radioactive sources.
Mr. Ramsey has 35 years of experience in civilian nuclear activities, including 30 years with the NRC. Mr. Ramsey was appointed to his current position, in the Senior Level Service, in November 2008. From September 1993 to November 2008, Mr. Ramsey served as a Senior Program Manager within the Office of International Programs. His responsibilities included nuclear safety and security issues with countries of the former Soviet Union. From June 1986 to January 1993, Mr. Ramsey served in a number of increasingly responsible nuclear engineering and project management-related positions at NRC. In May 2006, Mr. Ramsey’s accomplishments were recognized when he was awarded NRC’s Meritorious Service Award, the second highest honor granted by the NRC to an individual.
Mr. Ramsey received a Master of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering degree from the University of Virginia in May 1986 and a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Science and Engineering degree from Virginia Tech in June 1984.
