Between June 11-12, 2014, Mr. Mel Fields attended an International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC) Workshop at the Dead Sea in Jordan as part of the IRDP. The goal of the two-day workshop was to gain a better understanding, from a utility, national energy planning authority, and regulatory authority perspective, of the expected activities and issues associated with the deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). The Workshop addressed how SMRs could be deployed in markets within countries with established nuclear power programs, as well as countries seeking to use nuclear energy for the first time. To accomplish this objective the workshop organizers took an enterprise-wide approach by convening a broad spectrum of stakeholders and experts who would play key roles in developing successful SMR deployment plans.
